Pleasant morning session. I rode Pacha while F. rode Milha. Pacha was quite warm this morning, while I was rather exhausted by the session I had yesterday with If, a powerful, big SF show jumper belonging to another friend. If is quite physical, and I felt it in my joints this morning!
The arena was almost all to us. I used the same soft snaffle as last time, and no draw reins nor spurs. Pacha was a bit on his toes, but reacted less to his 'scaring spots'than previously though they still remains in his memory. Stood still when I mounted, without help from anybody else - good mark. Walk was ok, with a little of shoulder-in rather successful. Seems to be easier at left hand. Posting trot was somewhat disorderly at the beginning, with high neck, ears pricked forward and lack of regularity.I must say that my responsibility was engaged in this, because my first request to start trot was too strong (probably aftermath of yesterday's exercise with If, who requests loud and clear indications from his rider!), and Pacha startled like if stung with Mexican spurs! I put my hands low and rather wide apart to get him to yield. I am not sure this is orthodox, but I have practised on many horses, and it works to my satisfaction.Trot became more steady and I obtained a 'cession de machoire' with some lipstick. With only the weight of the reins in my hands, got a good start towards lowering the neck, into horizontal placer. Did a little of sitting trot, with my legs as 'descendues' as possible, without almost contact - rather encouraging result, with more steadiness in pace. Then the canter session was just fine - it is clearly one of Pacha's strong points.
We ended up happy, with no sweat for Pacha. F. had a good and smooth ride with Milha, who is doing well at the moment.
