Pacha - october 21

Busy arena, with several riders exercising. Pacha was somewhat unsettled by his scaring spots again. But on another hand he remained quiet when one of the competition dressage horses reared up to the vertical, close to him...I was probably more shocked myself than he was!
Same tack as usual, plus draw reins. I believe these can be very useful to Pacha, for helping him to steady up his placer with light, intermittent signals from the draw reins.I will use them every other session or so. Good start with a perfectly still halt when mounting. Walk work confirmed that right handside is stiffer. On this hand, shoulder-fore is irregular, and Pacha gets tense when doing it. Posting trot was fine, except from a few step-outs at the scaring spots. Stride got wider rather quickly. Then, for the first time, I tried sitting trot on the circle during some 5'.Was pleased to see him getting steady, without rushing nor 'knitting', and yielding on the inside hand. He becomes quite comfortable at trot, giving his back. Good canter session to finish. Of course, canter start (from trot) needs more work (from both horse and man!) to avoid some disorders that happen now and then (aids need to be so very light, and legs demand just a quick, precise yet soft touch-and-go) Although work was (reasonably) intensive, Pacha went back to stables with just a few wet patches, among which the stifle zone, proof of his hindquarter beginning of engagement.
